Volimes - Zakynthos

Volimes is a mountainous area on the NW of Zakynthos Island, approx. 32 kms away from Zakynthos town.
It is a traditional Zakynthian village, ideal for those who would wish to discover the magnificent virgin countryside of Zakynthos.
It is one of the most important places on the island and well known for the production of traditional crafts, olive oil, handmade tablecloths, embroideries and carpets.
Volimes is set in the municipality of Elation and it is divided in three smaller communities: Kato Volimes, Ano Volimes and Volimes Via.
Due to the mountainous of the place there are no adjacent beaches. The nearest one is Shipwreck beach on the west coast, 3.9 kms away, then on the opposite side Agios Nikolaos, 10.2 kms and Makris Gialos, 9.4 kms.
Someone can find in Volimes bikes and cars for hire, as well as traditional tavernas and restaurants, offering typical Zakynthian dishes. Unfortunately, there is no serious night-life in the area, due to its traditional character.
Hiking and climbing are very popular in Volimes, where quality accommodation is offered in reasonable prices and high quality constructions.
